HI and welcome to zyb's tour of duty AKA mages
first rule....EVERYBODY LIES

so this is the beginning of a guide on how to live it up at epic status on mages
for our wonderful event we all know called karavan there are a few basic rules
1. Mana gems are to be kept Full for bosses : you do NOT know how long the fight can continue
2. Evoke is only to be used AFTER an Ice Block or Invisibility : Evoke DOES cause agro i dont care what ppl tell u ur perform a hostile __action...mobs do not like when u are hostile
3. Attunement is REQUIRED : dont show up and Thhen realise...omg i haf 0 key /cry /pity
4. LISTEN to the raid leader : mages are not raid leaders with a few exeptions
5. MINIMUM gear is required il do this later its a long ass list
6. our friends are tanks and healers...piss them off, you will soon learn how stupid you are
7. I hereby BAN any ice mage who come to karavan in full pvp gear : fire mages can bring some but not a full kit
8. L2 read raid warnings they apply to you whether you think you can block out or not
9. If you think ur about to pull agro : you already have STOP CASTING
10. because im an ass about it: L2 COUNTERSPELL

After searching all this Gear for the magekin ive now worked out your minimum Spell damage at around 490 -520 area
Your intellect should now read around 240 - 280 this should be enough to get around 8000 - 9200 mana depending on how you have now specced for raiding
Your Hp should be around 7500 - 9200 again depending on your gearing up choices remember higher HP = higher survivability

should apply to every class IMO. We shouldn't be taking people with mainly PvP gear. This is PvE after all.

I think a minimum standard should be enforced...im all for the fun, but raiding quickly looses the oh joy factor when we spend the whole evening...or even a few evenings wiping over and over again.

I personally try to choose the best people for a raid..(when i have a choice )...and it is not always gear dependant, but gear does play a part...let me put it this way

If i had 450 defence, 10k health and i dunno 8k armor...would you want me as you MT?

The reason i do my job, is because i have the gear (which as most of you will know i worked my fucking arse off for) which gives me the stats, which makes me able to take the punishment.

and FYI i have 539 def, 12.6k unbuffed/ 16.8k fully buffed, and around 14k armor

Im a firm beliver in skill over Gear...but at the end of he day...we are raiding, and if you want in on the epics i think you should put the time in to get yourself geared up.

I will not personally be inforcing gear requirements...but if your class leaders want to...then that is their choice if zyberian whispers me and says

"oh so and so is in the raid...but they are undergeared...this, this and this might cause problems here here and here"

then would you want me to leave them in and cause you wipes, or say "dude go do some heroics, sort yourself out a bit and come back next week"

We are not hardcore raiding...but we are not nub either.

I stopped having fun raiding when we got to aran....i would like to enjoy it again, and the only way to do that is to take a good team and smack him down...and im sorry to say...you need gear to do that.

I understand what you are saying ava, but there was a time when ppl saw you were undergeared they would say, "wanna come to this our that heroic with us? cuz you need the gear" but nowadays ppl take the good geared ppl over the bad geared ppl and that way nobody gets a chance on good gear.... just cuz those ppl left out are forced to go PUG and we all know what thats like..... I'm just saying... please become the helpfull type of raiding guild and not the raiding guild that leaves ppl to themselves (you know what i'm talking about ava, i've been talking with you about it)

I think the best solution to this issue is we tell under-geared guilys that they need to gear up a bit to come to Kara, or at least move up the list to get in the "Fantastic-10". But we then do our best to help them get the gear they need/want.

I've only once done a heroic with guildys, but with the great epix on sale for Badges of Justice we could be blitzing them and effectively boost the new-70s.

Not to mention the daily q gives you 24g on top of whatever drops, not a terrible waste of time imo.

As most people will know if I'm on and not raiding or farming Keepers of Time rep I'm there for heroics and since I don't have Uni at the moment and can't really be arsed doing something more productive like getting a head start on my modules you basically have a healer.

I think Zyb and those in favour of minimum requirements are correct in their beliefs. I remember the first time we did Moroes and we struggled greatly most likely due to undergeared raiders (myself included since I was looking at less than 900 bonus healing as ToL whereas I'm now easily sitting 1300-1400 raid buffed as ToL and then an extra 200 when procced and blown). Whilst Aran is proving to be a pain in the arse I don't think thats down to poor gear. Our healers are now sitting at at least 1200 or so bonus which should be fine and hopefully DPS are keeping similar standards. Our main problem in the case of Aran is lack of tactics so please read my topic on that. I've spoken to Fermin about the case of healers and I'm hoping to work out roles for people to avoid over healing.

Druid minimum gear requirements will be going up soon as well once I've got my head around it all. The thing is, most of us ARE there to help people reach raiding. How often do you see me say in /g "Who still needs to get attuned?" "Who needs my help in X?" "Who would like to do a heroic?".

I'm very much in agreement with Fermin in this case so from now on, as soon as we finish Kara I'll be offering my healing services for a heroic run.

as a pre TBC raider, i understand the fact that we need to have a certern level of gear to complete any of the ??bosses, try raggy with no fire res and you'll see what i mean,

however we can't just say no you don't meet the requirements, go grind gear, we need to set up a few heroic runs a week to upgear those that need it. i'm online quite late most evenings so you can always get a healer or CC/DPS, but we must work as a team in all things, no just in kara.

i'll be posting a hunters gear giude and a holy priest's gear guide at the weekend, if no one minds? (btw who are the hunter and healing priest class leaders?)

oh and is anyone else revered with the nether wing? and want to do the group daily?

After all that I forgot why I was posting! Can I be class leader? Pleeeeeeease!? I'm at 8 epix and 9 blue now, and have geekily spent the time researching what specs, gear and tactics work. I know I lapse in concentration sometimes but that's normally because I'm reading about boss strategies before we get there!
